No Joy in Networkville

Apologies for the silence--the last few updates were private emails. I decided, for a few reasons, to take the plunge into wireless networking. So far, no joy. I started by getting a wireless router. Yes, I forgot that at this end of the market, a "router" strictly means something to connect to a DSL/Cable modem. No good. So today, I had it exchanged for a Linksys Wireless-G Access Point. It's a brick. Over two hours, I configured it some 15 times. Of all those tries, the web interface came up 3 times. It let me actually log in 0 times. Yep, zero. In order to reset the system, I didn't need the reset button. Unplug the unit for all of three seconds, and it's back to square one. A brick. In car terms, I got a lemon. So, tomorrow it is back to Memory Express. Again. The third time in as many days. Rainer
